Find peace and calm.
Anxiety therapy in St. Louis, MO
You’re tired of racing thoughts, shallow breathing, and constant over-analyzing.
It’s like you can never just exist.
You are jealous of the people who seem to just do life–every time you need to make a decision, you feel plagued by overthinking. Anxious thoughts start up whenever you aren’t distracted, and your best bet seems to be staying busy. Your racing heart and shallow breathing make life difficult as well.
Other people seem to think it should be easy—”why are you stressed?” they ask. “Don’t worry about it, you will be fine.” What they don’t understand is that right now, you don’t have that option—you feel out of control.
At this point, your only tool to manage anxiety has been avoiding the things that make you anxious or controlling everything in your environment. The truth, however, is that you are missing out on your life, and controlling everything is causing you other problems. You want to be back in the driver’s seat, you just aren’t sure how.
Sound like you?
Struggling with fear of the unknown
Tired of feeling like it’s all up to you
Ready to release your vice grip on your life
Wishing that you could feel peace and joy
Here’s what we’ll do together
Therapy can help you breathe, accept, and find control of your mind
Anxiety often stems from a few places—fear of a future that appears out of our control, fear of emotions that feel consuming, or fear that we will repeat the painful past.
If we have never learned to trust ourselves or painful experiences have taught us to feel untrustworthy, our mind begins to believe that our only hope is to avoid pain or keep it from happening. Accepting, therefore, that some circumstances are outside of our control, feels impossible.
When you work with me, my goal is to help you identify and understand what fears lurk beneath the anxiety and stand by you as you face them, head on.
Through facing your emotions, you can build a more compassionate relationship with yourself and, as a result, trust yourself as your caregiver. Then, you are free to acknowledge your limitations, feel joy and pain, and authentically live your life.
At the end of the day, I want you to know:
You don’t have to be stuck in an endless cycle of avoidance and controlling. When you heal your relationship with yourself, your thoughts, and your feelings, life can change.
What we’ll work on
Imagine a life where…
Your relationships feel authentic and energizing.
Work doesn’t hold ultimate power to define you.
You’re connected to yourself and you trust your body.
Your past no longer haunts your present.
Change is possible.

I utilize a combination of three approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which helps you change your posture towards your thoughts, accept what is out of your control, and act from your values rather than your fears, Psychodynamic Theory, which explores the roles, patterns, and unmet needs from your childhood which subconsciously guide your behavior in the present, and Mindfulness, which helps you become embodied and grounded in your present.

Each person’s experience with anxiety is a little different, so the process looks different for everyone. If your symptoms of anxiety are particularly intense, we will focus immediately on giving you tools to reduce the intensity right away, and focus on the root of the issue once you feel stable again.

I do not often utilize handouts or formal homework in my approach, so no need to worry about being a star pupil or getting good grades! With anxiety I will occasionally offer you an exercise to reduce physical symptoms in your day-to-day life, but these are not homework, just tools for your tool belt. I usually end each session with something for you to consider or even journal about outside of the session if you like that kind of thing.
